Telehandlers, also known as telescopic handlers and reach forklifts are in essence a larger version of a forklift that has been combined with a crane and an elevated work platform. This piece of machinery makes it possible to lift larger loads and reach higher places. They are commonly used to move loads too and from places that are unreachable for regular forklifts. Some of the common jobs they are used for include moving pallets, concrete blocks, steel and timber.
Telehandlers are multifunctional pieces of machinery that can perform multiple different tasks, depending on the attachment that is used. Some of the attachments can be used include buckets, crane jibs, hydraulic forks and winches.
Rollers are a common piece of machinery used on construction sites that require flattening and compaction. While all types of rollers utilise static pressure to compact a site there are 2 main types of commonly found on sites: the smooth drum and the padfoot.
The smooth drum roller is the type of roller that most people are familiar with and can be easily identified by their smooth front drum. This roller creates a smooth and flat surface when used.
The other main roller type, the padfoot roller is also relatively easy to identify as its front drum is covered in tampered pads that when run over a surface penetrate and compact the soil leaving a sturdy but uneven surface behind.
These two types of rollers can be used individually or in tandem to create a fully finished project.
Graders are one of the most important pieces of equipment on a construction site. They are used to prepare the soil base for almost any construction making sure that they have a stable and flat surface start building on. They can also be used to create inclined surfaces, maintain dirt and gravel roads, produce drainage ditches on the sides of roadways and even remove snow in areas that are prone to snowy weather.
